Hello there, i will provide some basics here for all new newbie folks.

1. What is Activation ?

  • Every iPhone need activation, originally this procedure is made via iTunes where you activate your iPhone & your AT&T(for USA) , O2(UK) or T-Mobile (Germany) contract.

2. Can i Activate without AT&T(for USA) , O2(UK) or T-Mobile (Germany) ?

  • Yes, You can. After that you gonna have iPhone that is activated, but still locked for the carrier from you buy it. To do that you need some 3rd party apps.
    • For Windows i recommend you wiNstaller. wiInstaller give you a lot of more options but i don’t recommend them.
    • For Mac the choice is better. The best apps for easy and smooth activation are - iNstaller & iActivator

3. What is “Jailbrake” ?

  • By default you can not see the file system of your iPhone, like it was with all iPods. Now with your iPhone connected you can see only the pictures you take with your iPhone Camera. The “Jailbrake” give you the access to that hidden file system to can add/remove/modify files from your iPhone.You need to Jailbrake your iPhone if you want to install 3rd party apps.

4. Why i need “Jailbrake” ?

  • You need only Jailbrake only if you want to install 3rd party application to your iPhone. Apple Inc. official statetmant is that they never will release Service Developer Kit for developers. So without Jailbraked phone you can use only Web 2.0 Applications.
  • You need also Jailbraked phone if you plan to unlock your Phone to work worldwide with any kind of SIM cards

5. Is “Jailbrake” legal ?

  • Up to 09/22/07 you don’t break any part of The Privacy Policy so it’s 100% LEGAL.

6. How to “Jailbrake” my phone

  • The native Jailbrake application is without Graphical User Interface and is not so user friendly. I recommend you the Installer.app method. It’s available for Windows and Macintosh. It’s very automated progress and user friendly. Also you get your fisrt 3rd party after the Jailbrake is performed. The application is called Installer and you can use it for installing 3rd party application directly to iPhone thru Wi-Fi or EDGE Connection. Official site for Installer.app

7. How to install 3rd party applications on your iPhone

  • Once you’ve got activated phone either you can use it for Calendar, Photos, Camera, Google Maps, Weather, Clock, Calculator, Notes, Music, Internet, E-mail. The world of iPhone doesn’t stop here. There is a plenty of 3rd party apps that are waiting to install them on your iPhone. To install 3rd party application you need to have Jailbraked iPhone . Once you’ve got it there is two main ways to install 3rd party applications:
    • The easiest and fastest method without using Computer to install 3rd applications is thru Installer.app, just start it and select the application you want to install. It will give you first information about the application creator and will give you a choice to install it.
    • You can also copy downloaded 3rd party applications for iPhone and install them after connecting Jailbraked iPhone to your Computer .
      • For Windows i recommend to use iBrickr you can install 3rd party app very easy via it’s PXL installer. Also it give you a options to install custom ringtones, wallpapers and to browse iPhone file system from where you can copy your 3rd apps in Application folder manually.
      • For Mac you can access your iPhone directly once it’s Jailbraked thry Finder.You should copy your 3rd apps in Application folder

8. What about Web 2.0 application ?

  • There is a lot of websites optimized for iPhone, they don’t need any kind of Jailbrake, you just open them in Safari on your iPhone and you are ready to use them. You can found very useful websites in our “Web 2.0″ category .

9. Can i use my iPhone with other carriers ?

  • Yes you can, i should perform a software Unlock and your iPhone can accepted any type of SIM cards worldwide.
