AppTapp (a.k.a. Installer.app ) is available for Windows PC and Mac’s. You can download the latest version from their official site http://iphone.nullriver.com/beta/, if you are developer, you can also find very interesting information.
You can use this application for two common things:
- Jailbreak iPhone
- Install additional 3rd party apps directly from your iPhone
Both of them are very important for the modding of your iPhone further. Basically you need to jailbreak your phone in order to install any kind of 3rd party apps(like AppTapp).
The installer first jailbreakes your iPhone and after that installs AppTapp. Bellow are basic instructions on how to do that:
- Go to http://iphone.nullriver.com/beta/ and download the latest version of AppTapp
- Open the downloaded file and select your firmware model
- Installer downloads the required files and will start the jailbreak process
- Installer may ask you to stop the iTunesHelper proccess if it’s running. You can do that via Task Manager in Windows
- You need to restart your iPhone
- You have jailbreaked your iPhone with your first and greatest app - Installer.app
This is very easy as you can see from my movie :

watch it on your iPhone tap- tap: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eNsjiOUiwy0

Hi Linus,
so you need your iPhone connected to your PC and iTunes closed.
After that you should Run the AppTapp.exe and follow the on screen instructions.
Can you tell me on which screen you’ve got error, to be able to help you?

I got a message “Sending to iPhone Failed” and things go back to square 1. I have a new iPhone, i downgraded the Firmware to 1.0.2, but nothing works
October 1st, 2007 at 2:39 pm
When you downgrade your iPhone is a little bit different to install AppTapp.
You should rerun AppTap if it doesn’t work the first time - it may take a few tries to work. You will have a jail broken iPhone that still needs to be activated.

Hi,
I am trying to install apptapp in my iphone 1.0.2 in windows pc.
I am getting the following error
Using Firmware Version 1.0.2

Transferring files to your iPhone, this could take several minutes.
Execute: iphonecomm.exe -d 009-7698-4.dmg -c kernelcache.release.s5l8900xrb
In the command prompt, it stops at stage 1: step 2
i.e., it sends preliminary files and the iphone enters recovery mode.
But nothing happens from there and the phone is stuck.
Please help in solving this issue

I’m having the same problem Pravin Kumar=[
what can we do?
January 29th, 2008 at 6:06 pm
Me too!
.. none of the tools do what they are supposed to do, so i ended up doing it manually and ended up with an activated phone, but no Installer.
Been trying to use ibrickr to install stuff, but none of them work.

I bought an Apple iPhone 16GB and everything is running well - it’s unlocked, all my data/contacts, pics and music were synced with my MacBook Pro.
Now to get the email and Safari settings … just can’t seem to get it right.
I’m on Vodacom (for smtp settings, I suppose) and my incoming mail server is Xsinet. I tried to sync the info re my mail settings via iTunes, but it just wouldn’t work: iTunes keeps on telling me it can’t do it as the iPhone is using the email address. Even after deleting all info re the email address from the iPhone, it still doesn’t work.
What should I do? It really helps me a lot to have email and web facilities at hand, but I just can’t seem to get it going.
Thanks
Chris
